DeskBuddy

DeskBuddy is a living 3D character that lives on your desktop.

Drop in any humanoid character — import your own GLB/GLTF/VRM/FBX model, or grab a free rig from Mixamo — and DeskBuddy brings it to life: idle animations, click reactions, drag-and-drop play, and a full "living wallpaper" mode where your character walks around, reacts to your cursor, and explores rooms you build across one or more monitors.

What you get:

- Buddy mode — a small companion that sits on your screen, reacts when you click or drag it, and cycles through idle animations so it never feels static.

- Scene mode (living wallpaper) — build rooms with a floor, walls, props, doors, and lighting in the built-in Scene Editor. Your character wanders on its own (with anchors, dwell times, and no-walk zones you control) or walks wherever you click.

- Multi-monitor support — tile rooms across every screen you own; walk through doors to travel between them, with six selectable transition effects (portal, particles, beam, vortex, fade, poof).

- Character Studio — import your own model, size/position/rotate it, map animations to states (idle, walk, click, drag, custom triggers), and preview everything live.

- Bring your own character — any humanoid VRM, or any Mixamo-rigged FBX (free to rig at mixamo.com — bipedal humanoid only, royalty-free for personal + commercial use).

- Accounts + library sync — save your setup, export/import your whole character + scene library as a portable folder.

System requirements: Windows 10/11, a GPU capable of basic 3D rendering (not a heavy game — most integrated GPUs from the last several years are fine).

A note on the installer: Windows SmartScreen may warn "Windows protected your PC" — this is because the app isn't code-signed yet (unsigned, not unsafe). Click More info → Run anyway. A signed build is planned (Microsoft Store release removes this warning entirely).
